More Than Just Engagement Photos
Engagement sessions aren’t just about getting beautiful photos before your wedding day. They’re also a chance to get comfortable in front of the camera, learn how your photographer works, and make wedding-day portraits feel a whole lot easier.
But it goes both ways.
Your engagement session also gives your photographer a chance to get to know you as a couple and learn what you need to get your best photos. Do you feel more comfortable with plenty of direction and posing? Do you respond better to prompts and movement? Or do you simply need a little direction to get started, and then you naturally take over?
Knowing that before the wedding day allows me to photograph you in a way that feels natural to you while still creating plenty of variety throughout your gallery.
How to Prepare
Choose outfits that feel like you. You don’t have to perfectly match — coordinating colors, textures, and overall style usually photographs better.
Consider a location that means something to you or fits the feeling you want for your photos. Whether that’s downtown, a garden, a studio, or somewhere you spend time together, the location can help make the session feel more personal.
And most importantly: you do not need to know how to pose. That’s my job.
Your engagement session gives us the opportunity to figure out what works together without the pressure or timeline of a wedding day. I can give you more direction when you need it, step back when you don’t, and capture plenty of frames in between so your final gallery has a beautiful mix of moments, expressions, and portraits.
By the time your wedding day arrives, being photographed together won’t feel quite so unfamiliar. You can spend less time thinking about the camera and more time enjoying your day.
